Red, White and 16 - What's New?

9-29-09_RRC_OS_to_Sec_16_Adj_WEB

The Red Rock Master Plan process dubbed Red, White and 16 will resume sometime this summer. The city  decided  to tackle some "side issues" that developed as a result of the process.
The main question - how decisions are made relating to trail construction and trail maintenance that take into consideration all user groups.
The city has begun a "relationship building process" with the goal of improving communication between Friends Groups/User groups and the city - and better define roles and responsibilities.  A series of interviews and meetings are underway.  The final meeting takes place in July. Check back for progress reports.
Members of the Parks Dept. Staff -  Kim King, Kurt Schroeder, Chris Lieber, Sarah Bryarly, Scott Abbott and Debbie McDonald are all participating in the process.

Parks employees assure us - all information/opinions gathered during the Red Rock Master Plan process has been saved and will be used when the process resumes.

Colorado Springs had begun a Master Plan process for Section 16 along with White Acres and Red Rock Canyon. This magnificent swath of open space deserves our attention to make sure its uniqueness is preserved and all user groups are considered as a plan is put into place. The first meetings had been well attended as well as informative, lively and interactive.
